About the glasshouse

Written by players, for players who linger.

PixelQuestVoyage started in 2019 as a shared spreadsheet between four friends arguing about RPG endings. Today it's a small independent blog run from a plant-filled studio on Albion Street, publishing three considered pieces a week.

We don't chase launch-day scores. We play the whole thing, sit with it, and tell you honestly whether it earned its place in your backlog.

How we review

Every verdict follows the same four steps.

No paid placements, no early-code embargoes bending the score. Here's exactly how a game travels from our shelf to your feed.

01

Full playthrough

We finish the main story and a good slice of side content — usually 20 to 60 hours before a word is written.

02

Two-editor pass

A second editor plays the sticking points to check the take holds up beyond one person's taste and hardware.

03

Context notes

We log price, length, accessibility options and performance so the verdict answers "is it worth it for me?"

04

Publish & revisit

We publish, then update the piece after major patches so the score reflects the game you'd actually buy today.

Good to know

Questions readers ask us.

Search below or scroll through the common ones.

Do you take money to boost review scores?+

Never. We buy most games ourselves, and any review copy is clearly disclosed at the top of the article. Studios can't see or change a score before it goes live, and we don't run sponsored reviews of any kind.

How often do you publish?+

Three pieces a week, usually a review on Monday, a guide midweek and a community or opinion piece on Friday. Larger games sometimes bump the schedule while we finish a proper playthrough.

Can I come to the community nights?+

Yes, they're free and open to everyone. We run co-op and couch sessions most Thursdays from 6pm at our Albion Street studio in Surry Hills. Seats are limited, so drop us an email to reserve a spot.

Which platforms do you cover?+

PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and Switch, with a soft spot for indie and cosy games. We note which platform we reviewed on and flag when performance differs meaningfully between them.

Can I pitch a guest article?+

We love outside voices, especially on games we've missed. Send a short pitch and a writing sample to our contact email. Accepted guest pieces are paid at a flat AUD $180 rate per published article.
